Cafe Accordion News
Happy Summer Friends and Fans!
Summer has finally come to the north country, and CAO has a brand new CD to share with you! It's called "Germaine," it's our 7th recording, and it finds the band in a particularly sunny mood. While our previous 2 releases were concept albums, "Germaine" is simply a collection of favorite tunes we have been performing over the past 15 years. There's a heavy French accent on this CD,featuring musettes, javas, and hot-club styles that the group is known for. There are 3 classic musette instrumentals: "Germaine", "Brise Picarde" and "Milou de Paname", and 2 French-language songs by contemporary retro composer Dominic Cravic, that will take you directly to a sidewalk cafe in Paris. But as is the case with most of our live shows, we have thrown in some Latin sounds and American standards. Cumbias from the Colombian and Arizona traditions complement a Brazilian mandolin feature (Jocob do Bandolim's lively "Assanhado"), "Eiffel Tower", an original cha-cha, and a gentle rumba treatment of the
classic "Sweet Sue". And there's more, in the form of Tin Pan Alley fox-trots and blues.
The CD will be available at all our live shows this summer, and also on cdBaby and the band's web site soon. You'll also find all the songs available on iTunes, Rhapsody, and other popular music download sources.
Our summer schedule appears below. We're very excited to be returning to the beautiful Towers in Rhode Island in August. If you make it to one of our shows, stop by the CD table to say hi and pick up your copy of "Germaine".
Have a great summer, hope to see you soon!
